ELA 029 - ELA Orientation


Prerequisite: Must be 16 years of age or older and not in high school.

A 15-hour-orientation, designed to assess a student’s academic competency. Emphasis is placed on the students understanding of the ELA program expectations, time require­ments, and the opportunity to improve un­derstanding of English. A portion of the ori­entation is class placement which is based on pre-testing, using the Test of Adult Basic Education (TABE) or the Test of Adult Basic Education Complete Language Assessment System- English (TABE CLAS E). Also in­cluded will be student success strategies for Non-English speaking students. The student must complete ELA 029 in order to take any ELA classes.
