PNC 201 - Medical Surgical I for Practical Nursing Prerequisite: PNC 101 , PNC 110 , PNC 120
Corequisite: PNC 130
Description: Medical Surgical Nursing I is designed to introduce concepts of Medical Surgical Nursing with emphasis on meeting the needs of the whole client. This course enhances the student’s ability to assess, apply nursing diagnosis, plan, implement, and evaluate nursing interventions as they apply to medical or surgical patients. Successful students will assimilate the care needs of the client in conjunction with their disease process or surgical intervention. Medical Surgical Nursing I enhances the students ability to incorporate the nursing process as it relates to various disease processes and health promotion. Specific body systems and the disease processes associated with them will be covered in the areas of etiology, diagnosis, signs and symptoms, treatment and nursing considerations. The student has the opportunity to apply the concepts of this course throughout the clinical portion of the program.
