NUR 103 - Foundations of Nursing


Prerequisite: Admission to the AAS Nursing program.

Corequisite: NUR 101  and NUR 102  (or active unencumbered CNA/LNA)

Description: This course introduces the foundational concepts of Nursing necessary for client-centered care. Concepts that build positive attitudes and behaviors for the new nurse are introduced and include caring, cultural and spiritual sensitivity, legal and ethical principles, and communication. Skills in critical thinking, the nursing process, quality improvement, communication, and evidence based nursing practice are also introduced. Application of knowledge, skills, attitudes, and behaviors occur in the nursing skills laboratory and Simulation Center.
