Corrections Officer Certificate (CORCC)

The Corrections Officer Certificate program prepares students for employment as corrections officers. For those already employed in corrections, or in any other criminal justice system job, the program provides an opportunity for professional growth and preparation for career promotions and/or transfers. Note: For a course to be eligible for transfer, the student must receive a “C” or better. Acceptance of a transfer course is determined by the receiving institution.

AJS 101 - Introduction to Administration of Justice Credits: (3)
AJS 225 - Criminology Credits: (3)
AJS 240 - The Correction Function Credits: (3)
AJS 245 - Ethics In Criminal Justice Credits: (3)
AJS 260 - Procedural Criminal Law Credits: (3)
ENG 101 - English Composition I Credits: (3)
SOC 131 - Introduction to Sociology Credits: (3)

Total Certificate Credits: 21

Note:

Students who have successfully completed the Arizona Department of Corrections Correctional Officer Training Academy (COTA), which has a 280-hour curriculum, would be eligible for awarded credits for the following courses: AJS 101 , AJS 240 , and AJS 245 .
