Medical Assisting Insurance Coding Certificate (INSC)

The Medical Assisting Insurance Coding Certificate program is designed to prepare students for national certification through the American Association of Professional Coders (AAPC) for the credential of Certified Professional Coder (CPC) or through the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA) for the credential of Certified Coding Specialist (CCS). All course work applies towards the Medical Assisting, AAS (MASSD)  degree, and Healthcare Information Technician, AAS (HITD)  degree. For more information regarding the Medical Assisting Insurance Coding Certificate, see the Medical Assisting webpage.

Admission to the Program:

  1. Must meet the college criteria for admission
  2. Appropriate assessment test scores or successful completion of PCS 021 , TRE 089 , and TRM 090  

Requirements for Graduation: Passing all Medical Assisting courses for the certificate with a “C” grade or better. Note: For a course to be eligible for transfer, the student must receive a “C” or better. Acceptance of a transfer course is determined by the receiving institution.
