Associate of General Studies, AGS (GSD)

Picture of students studying together

The Associate of General Studies is designed for students whose academic interests are non-specific or whose academic backgrounds may include coursework taken at other institutions or credits earned at MCC. With this degree, which is comprised of a minimum block of 25 credit hours of lower-division general education coursework, students learn the basics of mathematics, English, science, and a wide variety of other subjects. This general studies foundation enables students to explore many different disciplines and enhance their personal development with the equivalent of two years of post-secondary school education. The Associate of General Studies is not a transfer degree program; however, many of the individual courses listed in the core may transfer to any Arizona community college or Arizona university.

Note that certain courses may have prerequisite requirements which will increase the total credit-hour requirements. For a course to be eligible for transfer, the student must receive a “C” or better. Acceptance of a transfer course is determined by the receiving institution.
