NUR 221 - Nursing III - Nursing Specialties Prerequisite:
Description: This course focuses on the art and science of providing ethical, evidence-based nursing care to children and their families. This course also addresses the principles and techniques of therapeutic communication as it applies to working with clients who present with symptoms of mental health disorders in acute care and community settings. Contemporary issues in the field of mental health nursing are explored within a psychosocial, cultural, spiritual, economic, legal, and ethical environment. Finally, this course addresses working with obstetric clients in acute care and community settings. Contemporary issues in the field obstetrics nursing are explored within a psychosocial, cultural, spiritual, economic, legal, and ethical environment. Application of knowledge, skills, attitudes, and behaviors occur in the nursing skill laboratory, Simulation Center, and various clinical facilities.
