Medical Assistant: Medical Coding and Billing Certificate (INSC)

The Medical Assistant Coding and Billing Certificate is designed to prepare students for national certification through the American Association of Professional Coders (AAPC) for the credential of Certified Professional Coder (CPC). A completed application must be submitted to the program director for admission to the medical assisting programs. You can obtain the application online, at any MCC campus, from an advisor, or at the medical assistant department. 

Requirements for Graduation

• Anatomy and Physiology course must be completed with a “C” or better. 
• No D or F grades in any courses required for the program of study and a cumulative G.P.A. 2.5.
• Completion of all field of study courses with a “C” or better.

Note: For a course to be eligible for transfer, the student must receive a “C” or better. Acceptance of a transfer course is determined by the receiving institution. 

Note: BIO 201 and BIO 202 can be substituted for BIO 160 or HES 129. Students who took HES 129 prior to Fall 2021 can graduate with 3 credits for HES 129.
