The Associate of Applied Science (AAS) in Diagnostic Medical Sonography with a Cardiac Pathway prepares students to become skilled echocardiographers, specializing in cardiac imaging. This program combines rigorous academic coursework with hands-on clinical experience, equipping graduates with the knowledge and technical skills required for high-quality patient care in echocardiography. Upon completion of the AAS degree, graduates will be eligible to pursue certification through Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI), opening doors to employment opportunities in hospitals, medical imaging centers, and cardiology clinics. This pathway addresses the growing demand for specialized sonographers in cardiac imaging, fostering competence and confidence in students as they enter the healthcare field.
Program Student Learning Outcomes: Upon successful completion of this program, students will be able to:
- Apply anatomy, pathology, and terminology knowledge to produce optimized diagnostic sonography images for interpretation by the interpreting physician.(1, 2, 3, 5, 6)
