The Medical Laboratory Assisting Certificate provides students with a structured pathway to expand their clinical skill set and increase employability in today’s healthcare workforce. Leveraging the foundation of the College’s existing Phlebotomy program, this certificate emphasizes advanced technical skills, patient care competencies, and professional practice standards needed in clinical and laboratory settings. Through a combination of classroom instruction, hands-on laboratory experience, and supervised clinical training, students gain the expertise and confidence necessary for success in diverse healthcare roles.

Certification Exam: Upon completion of the program, students will to sit for a recognized industry certification exam, validating their competencies and enhancing career opportunities in the healthcare field.

Program Student Learning Outcomes: 
Upon completion of the program students will be able to:

  1. Utilize the collection, handling, and processing of blood and clinical specimens to industry standards. (2,3,4,5)
  2. Apply principles of infection control and safety to protect patients and healthcare professionals. (2)
