The certificate will provide students with the skills and knowledge to work in the rehabilitation setting. Graduates will have an understanding of the equipment and modalities used in rehabilitation settings, and develop an understanding of the impact disease and injury has on the human body. Graduates of the certificate program will be prepared to work along side licensed rehabilitation specialists such as physical therapists and occupational therapists.
Note: Minimum age for this program is 16 years of age.
Program Student Learning Outcomes:
Upon completion of this program students will:
- Have the entry level skills to be employed as a rehabilitation technician. (2,5,6)
- Understand human disease and the impact on function. (3,5)
- Understand cultural differences and the impact with healthcare. (1,3,4)
- Develop safe patient handling skills necessary to work in rehabilitation settings. (2,5)
- Develop an understanding of the role of medical record documentation used in healthcare. (2,6)
- Understand the concepts of therapeutic interventions to improve functional mobility. (3,5)
