The AAS in Diagnostic Medical Sonography at Mohave College is committed to providing students with a high-quality education within the learning domains for the Abdominal-extended, Vascular, Obstetrics, and Gynecology sonography concentrations. With a blend of academic coursework, hands-on training, and clinical experience, graduates of the program will emerge as skilled and competent professionals ready to make a positive impact in the field of Diagnostic Medical Sonography. Program Student Learning Outcomes:
Upon completion of the program students will be able to:
- Apply anatomy, pathology, and terminology knowledge to produce optimized diagnostic sonography images for interpretation by the radiologist or other qualified physician. (1,2,3,5,6)
- Utilize effective written and verbal communication and interpersonal relationship skills with members of the healthcare team. (2,4)
- Implement safe practices in diagnostic medical sonography procedures to ensure the well-being of patients and themselves. (3,6)
- Utilize evidence-based practice principles and skills to provide safe and effective patient care. (3,4)
- Optimize sonographic images by utilizing the functions and features of sonography equipment and sonographic physics principles. (3,5,6)
- Analyze ethical and legal dilemmas with the ability to make decisions that consider the moral and legal implications of diagnostic sonography practice. (2,3,4)
