The Dental Hygiene Program is designed to equip the student with the knowledge and skills necessary to take the national and state licensing examinations for Dental Hygiene. Students must adhere to the prescribed program if they are to complete the program and become eligible to take the exams.
This program is designed for a student to become a dental hygienist in a two year period (after completion of general education requirements) at Mohave Community College. The dental hygiene courses may not transfer to another two- or- four-year college.
All General Education coursework must be completed prior to beginning Dental Hygiene classes, with a grade point average of 2.8 or above and a grade of “C” or higher in all courses. Science courses must have been taken within the last 10 years.
Students must complete an application specific to the Dental Hygiene Program and have their acceptance into the program confirmed prior to enrolling in any dental hygiene coursework. Program information and application procedures are posted on the Dental Hygiene web pages on the MCC Web site at www.mohave.edu. The program accepts 18 students each fall. The application deadline is March 1.
The Dental Hygiene program at MCC is highly selective. Students wishing to apply for admission to the Dental Hygiene Program must complete the following courses prior to admission. Applicants may complete these courses during the spring semester in which they are applying to the program. Accepted students must complete program health, immunization, and background certifications prior beginning dental hygiene coursework.
