Education-Elementary and Middle School Teacher, A.A.

The Associate of Arts with an emphasis in Elementary Education program provides the foundation coursework for future teachers in elementary education. Students wishing to pursue a career as a middle school teacher have two options.  In the first option, students can complete an Associate of Arts in Elementary and Middle School Teacher Education and then transfer to a university’s education program to seek elementary certification for grades K-8 and an endorsement in their content area. The second option is to complete the Associate of Arts Degree for Secondary Teacher Education and then transfer to a university to complete certification for grades 7-12 and content courses for a major and/or minor. Students intending to transfer to a four year baccalaureate program are urged to contact an advisor at the transfer institution for content area recommendations. Students who are uncertain about becoming a teacher may enroll in
