**The Practical Nurse Certificate program is not accepting applications for the Fall 2018 semester in order to allow time for the curriculum redesign to be fully approved. Applications for Spring will be accepted.

The Practical Nurse (PN) certificate program is designed to prepare the student for a career as a Practical Nurse. The student will develop skills that prepare them to work in long-term care environments, correctional facilities, home health-based agencies, and hospitals in the areas of Medical-Surgical, Pediatrics, Obstetrics, and Psychiatrics. Upon satisfactory completion of the program, the graduate will be prepared to take the National Licensure Examination for Practical Nurses (NCLEX-PN). The program is approved by the Arizona State Board of Nursing.

Once the student successfully completes the NCLEX-PN, they are eligible to enter the Registered Nurse in the third semester. This accelerated entry point means the student can complete the program in one year.

According to the Institute of Medicine, “improving the education system and achieving a more educated workforce, specifically increasing the number of nurses with baccalaureate degrees” can be accomplished through a number of different programs and educational models, including educational collaboratives that allow for automatic and seamless transitions from an ADN to a Bachelor of Science in nursing degree (BSN). To facilitate this, MCC has partnered with several four-year institutions to establish transfer agreements and concurrent enrollment programs. Visit the Transfer and Affiliations webpage at https://www.mohave.edu/admission-to-mcc/transfer-partners/
