EDU 260 - Building Reading Literacy through Word Study, Comprehension Strategies, and Phonics Skills


An overview of research based instructional methods in reading and phonics instruction. Includes emphasis on: phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency development, vocabulary acquisition, comprehension strategies, and other English language arts curriculum supporting the stages of literacy development and stages of orthography. Also includes discussion on proven ELA programs and methods for spelling instruction and language acquisition. 

Credits: 3
Prerequisite: ENG 101  w/ a C or higher or current teaching license.
