PAR 206 - Paralegal Practicum


Working with the course instructor, the student will propose a learning experience through which they can demonstrate an appropriate level of knowledge and skills obtained during participation in the paralegal program. The student will volunteer 120 hours in a law office or other legal environment to perform supervised paralegal work and/or a comprehensive legal project. Students will also prepare for a career as a paralegal by working on resumes, interview skills, professional development, and employment strategies.

Credits: 3
Prerequisite: Successful completion of all 100-level paralegal classes and PAR 201  ; or permission from the course instructor.  
Notes: The course instructor will provide guidance and support, but students are responsible for finding internship positions (paid or unpaid) and are encouraged to start applying on their own prior to the start of the semester. The project, work site, and supervisor must be approved by the course instructor.
