SOC 132 - Social Problems in Modern Society The course will examine how social problems emerge and are defined as such, who takes responsibility for them, who is threatened by them, and how they are managed, solved, or ignored. The course will examine theories, research, and proposed solutions to the problems of poverty and unemployment, racial/ethnic and religious conflicts, global human health, as well as environmental issues. Social problems will be examined on national and global levels.

Credits: 3 Prerequisite: Multiple measures discussion, or appropriate score on placement exam, or completion of TRE 089 with an ‘S’
