HUS 300 - Co-Occurring Disorders This course explores the complexities of co-occurring disorders, where individuals experience both mental health disorders and substance use disorders simultaneously. Students will gain an understanding of the interrelationship between these conditions, learning how to assess, diagnose, and treat individuals with co-occurring disorders using an integrated approach. Topics include the biological, psychological, and social factors contributing to co-occurring disorders, evidence-based treatment strategies, and the role of trauma in co-occurrence. Special attention will be given to the challenges of providing culturally responsive care.
Credits: 3 Prerequisite: PSY 101, SAC 101
