The Associate of Applied Science in Dental Hygiene prepares the student for employment as a dental hygienist. Graduates of this two-year program will have the knowledge and skills necessary to take the national and state licensing examinations for Dental Hygiene. This program is designed for students to complete in a two-year period following the completion of the general education requirements. Students wishing to apply for admission to the Dental Hygiene Program must complete all General Education Requirements prior to admission, although they may be enrolled in and complete the courses during the spring semester in which they are applying to the program. Please note that the General Education requirement of, “CIS 110 - Introduction to Computer Information Systems  or higher” may be taken before or after admission into the program. Note: Students must adhere to the prescribed program if they are to complete the program and become eligible to take the exams. The dental hygiene courses may not transfer to another two-or-four-year college. 

The Dental Hygiene program is located on the Bullhead City Campus in Bullhead City.

Admission Prerequisites

The Dental Hygiene program at MCC is highly selective; only 18 students are accepted each fall. All General Education coursework must be completed with a grade point average of 2.8 or above and a grade of “C” or higher in all courses. Science courses must have been taken within the last ten years. Students must complete an application specific to the Dental Hygiene Program and have their acceptance into the program confirmed prior to enrolling in dental hygiene coursework. Students have the option of completing DAE 106 - Dental Radiography  and DAE 118 - Dental Materials  prior to acceptance into the program. Requirements for Graduation

No D or F grades in any program required courses and completion of all field of study courses with a “Bor better.

Note: For a course to be eligible for transfer, the student must receive a “C” or better. Acceptance of a transfer course is determined by the receiving institution.
