The Respiratory Care Practitioner AAS degree program at Mohave College will prepare students to work as Registered Respiratory Care Practitioners. The program provides curricular content related to the acquisition of skills in management, education, and research to build student competence in the cognitive, psychomotor and affective learning domains of respiratory care practice. Students will develop professional knowledge and skills in respiratory care techniques, general pharmacology, cardiopulmonary disease and resuscitation, patient assessment, therapeutics, and neonatal care. Courses in this professional program are sequential and must be taken in the order specified by the program curriculum. Program Student Learning Outcomes:
Upon completion of the program students will be able to:
- Apply clinical information relative to anatomy, physiology, and the role of the Respiratory Care Practitioner.
- Demonstrate the technical use of all applied modalities.
- Describe the classifications, indications, benefits, and adverse reactions of medication administration.
- Analyze the results of diagnostic studies to determine appropriate patient care.
- Utilize professional communication and behavior that meets the expectations of the Respiratory Care Practitioner.
- Employ infection control measures for the purpose of disease prevention.
