The AAS in Diagnostic Medical Sonography at Mohave College is committed to providing students with a high-quality education within the learning domains for the Abdominal-extended, Vascular, Obstetrics, and Gynecology sonography concentrations. With a blend of academic coursework, hands-on training, and clinical experience, graduates of the program will emerge as skilled and competent professionals ready to make a positive impact in the field of Diagnostic Medical Sonography.  Program requirement information and application procedures are posted on the Diagnostic Medical Sonography website. 

Program Student Learning Outcomes:  
Upon completion of the program students will be able to: 

  1. Apply anatomy, pathology, and terminology knowledge to produce optimized diagnostic sonography images for interpretation by the radiologist or other qualified physician. (1,2,3,5,6)
  2. Utilize effective written and verbal communication and interpersonal relationship skills with members of the healthcare team. (2,4)
  3. Implement safe practices in diagnostic medical sonography procedures to ensure the well-being of patients and themselves. (3,6)
  4. Utilize evidence-based practice principles and skills to provide safe and effective patient care. (3,4)
  5. Optimize sonographic images by utilizing the functions and features of sonography equipment and sonographic physics principles. (3,5,6)
  6. Analyze ethical and legal dilemmas with the ability to make decisions that consider the moral and legal implications of diagnostic sonography practice. (2,3,4)
