Cosmetology (COS.CT)

The Cosmetology certificate provides comprehensive training in hair, nails, and skincare, preparing students for careers in the beauty industry. Students will gain hands-on experience in cutting, coloring, styling, manicuring, pedicuring, facials, and makeup application while learning the latest industry trends and techniques. The program also includes business and customer service skills essential for success in salons, spas, and self-employment. Requires the following credits and clock hours to be completed:

Cosmetology = 1,500 (40 credits)

Upon completion, students will be eligible to take the state licensing exams in their respective areas of study. Whether pursuing a career as a stylist, nail technician, esthetician, or educator, graduates of the Cosmetology program will be equipped with the skills and knowledge needed to thrive in the beauty industry.
 

Program Student Learning Outcomes: 
Upon completion of the program students will be able to:

  1. Apply theories, principles, and concepts to learn additional skills needed as a cosmetologist, nail technician, esthetician, or hair stylist. 
  2. Demonstrate strong and effective written and oral communication skills. 
  3. Analyze special issues in cosmetology and their effects on society. 
  4. Demonstrate ethical behavior in a professional work setting, both within the work force and within the community.

First Semester: 16 credits
