PHB 102 - Phlebotomy Practicum

This course provides students with practical, hands-on clinical experience in real-world laboratory settings. Students will gain experience working in hospital laboratories and outpatient draw stations, performing venipuncture and capillary puncture, transporting and processing specimens, and requisitioning laboratory orders.

All immunizations and CPR certification must be current prior to placement.

Students are required to submit all necessary documentation for practicum placement, including a background check, drug screen, proof of BLS for Healthcare Providers certification, and all facility-required immunizations and physical forms. A complete list of requirements is available from the practicum coordinator. Practicum placement is determined at the discretion of the clinical facility, which makes all final placement decisions. Any adverse findings on background checks or drug screens may affect eligibility for placement.

While every effort is made to place students locally, placement at nearby sites cannot be guaranteed. Students may be required to travel to surrounding areas for clinical rotations. All travel arrangements and related expenses are the responsibility of the student.
