Associate of Applied Science (AAS)

General Education Core Requirements

A minimum block of 15 credit hours of lower-division general education coursework must be completed. This block of courses represents only the general education portion of an AAS degree. See the specific program of study for total credit hour requirements. Note that the AAS is not a transfer degree program; however, many of the individual courses listed in the core requirements may transfer to any state of Arizona community college or state of Arizona university.

Note: For a course to be eligible for transfer, the student must receive a “C” or better. Acceptance of a transfer course is determined by the receiving institution.

COM 151 - Public Speaking Credits: (3)
ENG 101 - English Composition I Credits: (3)
ENG 102 - English Composition II Credits: (3)
ENG 136 - Technical/Professional Writing Credits: (3)

Critical Thinking and Reasoning: 3-5

Choose one course from the following:

Any 100-level or above math, technical math, integrated or vocational math Credits: (3-4)
Any 100-level or above laboratory science course Credits: (4-5)
PHI 101 - Introduction to Philosophy Credits: (3)
PHI 151 - Ethics Credits: (3)
Or any vocational ethics course from the following:
BUE 175 - Business Ethics Credits: (3)
MEA 100 - Medical Law and Ethics Credits: (3)
