This Arizona Department of Education approved set of courses is designed for students who completed an undergraduate program in a non-teaching field. Students employed by an Arizona school district holding an alternative teaching certificate take these courses as part of a pathway to a permanent teaching certificate. The name post baccalaureate means “after the bachelor’s degree” and this certificate is sometimes referred to as a post bacc. In this program you won’t earn a degree, but have the courses on your transcript necessary to apply for a permanent certificate.

EDU 205 - Introduction to Education Credits: 3
EDU 214 - Cultural Diversity in Education Credits: 3
EDU 215 - Brain Based Learning Credits: 3
EDU 222 - The Exceptional Student Credits: 3
EDU 240 - Structured English Immersion Credits: 3
EDU 242 - Secondary Reading and Decoding Credits: 3
EDU 270 - Classroom Management Credits: 3
EDU 295 - Student Teaching and Seminar Credits: 8
POS 100 - Arizona Constitution and Government Credits: 1
POS 227 - United States Constitution Credits: 1
*POS 100 and POS 227 can be waived with passing APEA/NES test score for AZ and US constitution.
Complete one course from the following:
EDU 271 - Secondary Language Arts Methods Credits: 3
EDU 273 - Secondary Science Methods Credits: 3
EDU 275 - Secondary Math Methods Credits: 3
EDU 277 - Secondary Social Studies Methods Credits: 3
