The Associate of Science in Geology prepares the student for transfer to a university Bachelor of Science degree in Geology. Students transferring to four-year institutions will have the academic foundation applicable to various career fields such as Environmental Geology, Engineering Geology, Geological Education, Petroleum Geology, Economic Geology, Field Geology, Science Writing and Editing, and Environmental Law. Note: For a course to be eligible for transfer, the student must receive a “C” or better. Acceptance of a transfer course is determined by the receiving institution.
Program Student Learning Outcomes:
Upon completion of the program students will be able to:
- Apply geological knowledge to everyday situations and global economy. (2, 4)
- Prepare, process, and present geological data. (2, 3, 4, 5, 6)
- Handle information in a range of different mediums, e.g. textual, numerical, oral, and graphical. (2, 3, 4, 5, 6)
- Build collaboration skills, problem solving skills and lateral thinking abilities. (1, 2, 3, 5, 6)
- Gain academic preparation and experience for further education in Geology related disciplines at University level (petroleum engineering, petroleum geophysics, earth sciences, hydrogeology, waste management, nuclear decommissioning, mineralogist, etc.). (2, 3, 4, 5, 6)

Recommended Program Pathway
NOTE: Courses with an asterik (*) indicates the course is a program requirement. First Semester: 14 credits
- GLG 101 - Physical Geology with Lab Credits: 4 *
- Any course within the Institutions of Americas category of the AGEC Credits: 3
- Any course within the Written and Oral Communication category of the AGEC Credits: 3
- MAT 151 - College Algebra Credits: 4 *
