DEH 112 - Periodontology I

Prerequisite: Appropriate standing in the Dental Hygiene Program

Introduction to principles of periodontology and periodontal medicine, exhibited by describing and recognizing the periodontium in health and disease. Anatomy, physiology, histology and functions of dental tissues are discussed in depth. Periodontal diseases are discussed and classified, the etiology of periodontal diseases is explored, and particular emphasis is placed on the host immune response.
