Associate of Science (AGEC-S)

General Education Core Requirements

The AGEC-S, a minimum block of 37 credit hours of lower-division general education course work, may be completed at any Arizona community college. For a course to be eligible for transfer, the student must receive a “C” or better. The approved courses will fulfill lower-division, general education requirements at any state of Arizona community college or state of Arizona university. Students will be required to fulfill the course prerequisites, major requirements, and upper-division requirements specified by each university. This block of courses represents only the general education portion of a degree. See specific programs of study for total credit-hour requirements. Note that certain courses may have prerequisite requirements which will increase the total credit-hour requirements.

Note: For a course to be eligible for transfer, the student must receive a “C” or better. Acceptance of a transfer course is determined by the receiving institution.

A. Freshman Composition: 6


B. Mathematics: 4


Choose one course from the following:

E. Physical and Biological Sciences 8-10


 Choose two courses in the same prefix, in sequence from the following:

F. Options: 7-8


Choose two transferrable* courses based on program/degree requirements and using the Course Equivalency Guide (please choose the Mohave Community College link), or consulting advice from a university program advisor.  Select math courses above Calculus 1 and/or science courses from astronomy, biology, environmental science, chemistry, geology, physics, or geography. 

*A transferrable course is defined as an MCC course that transfers to all three Arizona state universities (Arizona State University, Northern Arizona University, and University of Arizona).

Total Credit Hours: 37-40
